This proposed Annexation, Rezoning and Development has serious impacts on our community and neighborhood. "Stand With Us" and make a difference in our future.
Potential Negative Impacts
Traffic congestion, Environmental Pollution, Noise Pollution, Unintended Hazards and Potential Rise In Crime Rate
A large development of any kind in this confined area would without doubt cause strain on and further congestion Caroline Lane. Caroline is the only two-lane "Right Of Way" we have in and out of our neighbor. We must voice our concerns and at least require another entrance and exit to these new apartments, condos or homes to ensure "ease of passage" and safety for us all.
If successful the proposed addition of 60 units would add 100+ more vehicles commuting on Caroline Lane daily!!! That is a significant traffic increase that will effect our ability to travel to and from our homes.
During the Construction process there will be both Environmental and Noise pollution. Such developments are known to create large "clouds" dust and debris. These issues outline possible health concerns regarding the "air we breath" and the noise alone will definitely impact our "quality of life. Please consider these concerns as they effect us all and "the clock is ticking". Join us at the virtual Tempe City Counsel meetings, sign our online petition and make your voice heard!
If the development is approved we may be at greater risk of possible hazards and unforeseen emergency situations. For example: In the event of a Fire our ability to flee quickly may be infringed upon based on limited means exit the area.
It is also feasible to consider the possibility that this new development may unintentionally bring a higher crime rate to our neighborhood. It's important that we attempt to address as many concerns as possible to mitigate potential risks and protect our families and homes.
Please don't remain silent! We need your help to address this issue immediately!
Nice, I’ll use the link in the email reminder to everyone.
https://www.tempe.gov/government/city-clerk-s-office/city-council-online-meeting-comment-card This is the link where comments can be submitted. Looks like they must be submitted at least two hours prior to the meeting to be considered.
I just spoke with the City of Tempe. They said a comment card can be completed in advance through the website. I was told these “cards” will be read by the committee as they discuss and decide upon the issue. They said multiple residents can complete the online comment cards, or one comment card could speak on behalf of all residents. It does not sound like there will be opportunities for community members to speak in the meeting, and the only way of being heard will be to complete the comment card in advance. Perhaps this is something we can coordinate? Maybe 1-3 residents can submit a comment card along with information about the petition?
Hi Sandie, we are hopeful that anyone available to join the virtual meeting will attend. An email will be sent out tomorrow as a reminder along with a link to join the hearing. Regarding speaking, I’m not for certain that option will be available yet. Thank you for your help. We are up to 44 signatures! It’s a good start.
/ Would it be helpful if residents attend this meeting for any reason? I know requests to speak at these types of meetings typically require some kind of advanced notice.
